Outside In

I love this shot from Livingetc. of architect Steven Ehrlich's residence in LA. How great would it be to enjoy this living room day in and day out? You can see more of the house, which incorporates sustainable building elements by going to his site then clicking on residential projects, then 700 Palms Residence.

I like this as well but why does everything indicating "green" look so modern? It's driving me crazy to see the "green" trend pigeoned holed as bamboo flooring and minimalist design when there are a world of options available to us that are in keeping with being green such as architectural salvage. Just a thought.

I totally understand, Tab! The very simplest (and most interesting) way to incorporate green design into anything is to use something that already exists that may have been destined for our landfills. Buying used or vintage also avoids contributing further to a manufacturer's carbon footprint. I believe in architectural salvage as a way to go green and I do think that more people should consider the options.
